![]() ![]() ![]() The difficulty I think with writing a review for the first part of such a long story is that we're still really getting into the story by the time the book ends. That helps, because I like reading vast works and now that I know what I'm getting into and I can understand that this book is The Setup. So that helped me wrap my brain around why I felt like the questions were mounting and mounting and I wasn't getting many answers… at the least, this is much like a 6 part, very long novel. There's no mistaking that this book is the setup to a series, but I found on one of my breaks a comment by NJ Nielsen on GoodReads that this is a 3-part series (3 Lines of Marsden, which are family descendant lines), which total 18 books, 12 of which were already mostly written. I wouldn't say I had a hard time getting into it, but I did take some breaks early on while reading, trying to wrap my head around what was going on. ![]() This is a bit of a difficult book to review. ![]()

Still a lot of danger and action, as per usual, though some of it had a twist that made it a bit more surreal and, let’s say, introspective for the characters. ![]() ![]() He’s such a jerk! But the authors have done a good job of making him interesting and still making me care about what happens to him. Retribution also had a significant part of the story, being a POV character again. And I loved the comfort and attraction that Jasper felt with both, since they’re both part of Crimson. They still loved each other, but it affected their relationship, they no longer had the same easiness and sweetness together.Ī little less sad, one of my favorite things about this one was getting to meet Zahir and the spider, as their own entities! That was cool. I don’t think Crimson quite understood why Jasper was struggling, he just felt like Jasper was unhappy with him, and I felt for him too. His thoughts and feelings and fears were realistic, and I like when trauma is acknowledged in books, when characters sometimes can’t just shrug things off. Jasper was really struggling with the emotional trauma of everything, and I felt so bad for him. This one seemed so much sadder in tone than the others. ![]() This has become one of my favorite series, and it was so easy to sink right back into the lives of these characters I love. *I received an ecopy of this book from the authors. ![]() ![]() ![]() Other content: explicit language, inappropriate medical examination, cum swallowing, bareback, sex toys, body worship, multiple partnersīenjamin Slowly has always tried to be a good man. And, I regularly daydream about how fantastic it would be to once again be living in Europe with the same opportunities for regular travel throughout the historic “Old World.” But, as a kid, spending hours in a stuffy, old art museum while my mom - an incredibly talented and curious artist - poured over each piece for what seemed like an hour was pure torture. As an adult, I realize that is such a ridiculous complaint. You might have heard me complain in the past that my childhood involved being dragged to every art museum in Europe by my mother. ![]() |
